Iftar at Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor

It is always a pleasure to dine with fellow bloggers and JivewithDeepti brought us together to the perfect location; Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor.

Always a fan and a dedicated follower of the Masterchef series, my joy knew no bounds and I accepted the invite almost too immediately. The set menu by the restaurant has appropriate portions along with dishes that are almost too good.

So this is what came with the #Arabic mezze, #Panipuri Shots! #IftaratSignature #JivewithDeepti #MeliaDubai #RamadanAtMeliaDubai

We started with an Arabic mezze platter that is a must at every Iftar table, along with which, Pani Puri shots were served. These were a refreshing way to start our meal. Soon followed a tray of assorted grills; Saffron Scented Prawns (very flavorful, but the saffron scent was lost) , Sumac Spiked Grilled Fish (not our favorite, lacked crispiness), Olive and Nuts Stuffed Chicken Roulade and Charcoal Roast Lamb Chop. (excellent options and decent portions)

What arrived next was an array of dishes that were authentic to Indian cuisine. Dum ka Murg, Kabuli Chana Gosht, Paneer Papdi Tokri, Wok Tossed Baby Potato and Cherry Tomato and Cauliflower, Lalla Mussa Dal, Chicken Biryani and Assorted Breads.

We were suckers for the Saffron fragrant biryani that was a little dry but can be ignored. Cause who doesn’t love a good ol’ chicken biryani? Dum ka Murg was another competitor with its soft and tender chicken.

I could give the Paneer Papdi Tokri a miss as it didn’t please my palate.

Lastly came the desserts which boast quite a variety. There’s Mahalabia, Phirnee, Gajar ka Halwa (Carrot Halwa), Malpua and Chenna Angoori (read: tiny rasgullas)

The Mahalabia is a creamy dessert made of milk and garnished with nuts. Ours came with sliced prunes and apricots too. We also fell in love with the Chenna Angoori which were bite-sized portions of happiness.

All in all, the Iftar at Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor provides a decent affair. There is also a separate area for those who fancy shisha after/during their meal.

The set menu is priced at AED 149 per person from 7 PM to 12 PM.

What is your favorite iftar place? And what do you favor, buffet or set menu?

Until then, happy eating! xx
