The Eatalian Way – Eataly, DFC

How do you guys feel about visiting restaurants located in malls? I feel they’re best for stopping by during your shopping hours for a quick bite. Or someplace you’d want to head to when you’re in for an extremely casual meal.

And Eataly promises just that. The newly opened branch is situated at the extension of Festival City which is its second venture after its first one at Dubai Mall. Heading right in, we were first introduced to its display sections that sell different kinds of pasta, chocolates, and other ingredients used in cooking an Italian meal.

Another turn and you’re headed to where the tables are. A bit busy when I entered, but we managed to find a table within a couple of minutes. The menu is huge. So much, that it will leave you confused. We finally settled forย their fried shrimps (AED 65) and bread stuffed with sundried tomatoes (AED 39). Both of which were loved extremely by us, cause who doesn’t love fried food?

Next, our Burrata, Tortelli stuffed with Mascarpone Cheese and Pesto Sauce (AED 56), Sea Bass with cherry tomatoes and olives (AED 119), Grilled Corn-fed Chicken breast (AED 85) and a Truffle Pizza with beef.

Our favourites were the “too huge to eat” Burrata (AED 65). I love love loved it.

Accompanying the burrata on the list was the Grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and salad served on the side. Juicy and succulent chicken that wasn’t hard to cut like some places serve.

While the Sea Bass was rather well presented, the cherry tomatoes didn’t really go well with it. The tortelli too failed to amaze us. What was served was a dry and uncooked tortellini that did nothing to enhance the flavour of the cheese and pesto sauce within.

Next came out coffees and desserts. While waiting for our order, I got a chance to go through the shelves presenting their remarkable selection of Italian fare. Their tie-ups with Illy and Nutella really helped end our meal wonderfully.

Their Tiramisu was not bad too, but a tad bit too high a price of AED 19 for the bowl offered.

If I’m going back: The Grilled Corn-fed Chicken and appetizers were definitely worth another shot! The menu is huge, so there’s still a lot to try.

And on another note, I might come here just for the coffee too!

Until then, happy eating! xx
