One For The Hunger Pangs – Fuego

Craving Mexican food? Look no further! Fuego is back with a bang, presenting a new menu in a contemporary set up while providing a perfect way to let your hair down after a long day. They have a private dining area, as well as a bar, and to top it up, a relaxing atmosphere. I really like how they play Spanish songs, going with the theme of the restaurant.

I visited Fuego for lunch a few weeks back. First, we started off with our drinks. I tried a frozen lemon mojito, strawberry and mint margarita and their new watermelon based drink. My favourite here was their new addition, loved the sweetness provided by the watermelon in the otherwise tangy drink. Mostly, I loved the way these drinks were presented in cute jars with a rope tied in the middle.

For starters, we went for some of the usuals like tacos and firecracker jalapeños.

While these tasted good, they couldn’t beat the next appetizer that was brought to our table. This dish was stuffed with prawns, cheese and tomatoes on a bed of eggplant purée and veggies.

Our mains consisted of cooked tiger prawns with rice, Green Mole salmon, Prime Tenderloin steak with bbq sauce and corn purée and a chicken burrito.

While the tiger prawns were cooked wonderfully, the rice failed to amaze me. The Prime Tenderloin didn’t deliver too, as there was too much fat in the meat which proved difficult to cut through.

The Green Mole on the other hand was a clear winner! I’m not usually a salmon person, but this dish proved me wrong. A gorgeous piece of salmon on risotto styled rice and green mole sauce. Genius.

The Chicken burrito was quite large for one person, heck two even! It can easily be consumed by three people, as they had servings of beans and rice on the side. I felt it could do with more spices, but that was just me.

Coming to the dessert, there were two options I was dying to try out. Their newly introduced Chocolate Fantasia and Tres Leches Cake.

The Chocolate Fantasia delivers nothing short of a delight. A chocolate ball with choco ice cream and strawberries. On the side, there’s guava ice cream to complement it. Honestly, I felt they could have tried another flavour here as I’m not a fan of guava. I loved the presentation of the dish though, which reminded me of a crescent moon surrounding a star.

The Tres Leches was my preferred dessert here. A soft coconut cake with meringues and berries. A light and not too sweet dessert for those who are not fans of chocolate.

Coming to the service, the servers here are quite punctual and helpful. We were also given a sample of some of their spiciest sauces, which tasted nothing but extremely hot of course!

Definitely coming back for the Green Mole Salmon soon.

Until then. xx
