Organic Food At Its Best – Tribeca

Inspired by the districts of New York, Tribeca offers a refreshing take on healthy food. Looking at the interiors which have mismatched paintings and ceilings with pipelines, the manager Blaise Thorens, describes it as being “rustic chic”. I was invited to taste the menu of the restaurant, which offers not only American, but also a bit of Italy.

The atmosphere is pretty chill and laid back, which makes it perfect to visit after work or when you are looking for late night options. They also have themed nights, with some being movie nights. Tribeca features DJs and live band performances as well. Doesn’t the place sound better with every sentence? Here comes the best part, they serve an organic menu! They have won our hearts already.

Opting to sit in the private dining area, we were ushered into a room with glass walls, where Blaise personally took our order. We were first served a complimentary appetizer, Insalata Caprese con Panne. A dish made with mozzarella and tomatoes, with Pesto as a garnish. Also, as a starter, we ordered the King Prawns.

Don’t these look delicious? These grilled prawns were cooked in coconut cream and grilled polenta. The prawns were well cooked, something that I am quite particular about. This is a recommended dish for seafood lovers I must say.

To accompany the starters, I ordered myself a Berry Mocktail which was not too overwhelmingly sweet. A Lemon and Mint drink was also ordered.

Since Tribeca has an Italian chef, we were suggested to try a dish from their Italian options. We chose the Ravioli which was stuffed with beetroot and served with pea foam. This was the winning dish of the night. Though I would have preferred it with more spices, but that’s me. The sweet beetroot went well with the pea foam served and made the dish quite colourful.

The other dish we opted for, was the Beef Tenderloin. The beef was cut into sizeable portions and served with cherry tomatoes and Pesto. The meat was well done and was easy to cut into, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. As sides, we went for the sweet potato fries.

After we were full enough with the food, it was time for dessert! Our server brought in their speciality – Tribeca Cheesecake and the Eton Mess.

What I liked about the cheesecake was that, it was served in a three tiered glass tower. The concept behind three separate containers, is being able to choose how much of each layer you prefer. These being the almond crumble, cheesecake and passion fruit as the topping. I found the passion fruit a bit too tart for my taste, which is why I opted for having the cheesecake and almond crumble alone.

Coming to my preferred dessert from the two, the Eton Mess was filled with cream, strawberries, blueberries and meringues. A dish that can be tried at home.

Tribeca has impeccable service, top that with great food and movie nights. It offers a total drool worthy experience when it comes to food, and leaves you wanting to return for more. I would recommend the grilled prawns and beef tenderloin for anyone planning to visit. As for me, I’m eyeing the chocolate fondue for next time.

Until then. xx
